Independent project
For my independent project this year I wanted to take some inspiration from many of my favourite pieces of media to create a series of sculptures based around dreams, memories, and trauma. The sculptures were done with clay, cardboard, wood, and multiple other materials to achieve the full effect I needed from it. The sculptures take heavy inspiration from the visual of one game in particular, a game called .FLOW. The game has inspired me for years on end and the visuals resonate with me and my feelings about things in my own life greatly, which I think I captured in my sculptures. The process behind making them was fairly smooth, the main thing I sadly didn’t get the chance to finish on was getting work done on characters to fit in the sculptures, but I think they still work without them regardless. I think this was a valuable experience to have had in this class, as much of working on my art has also been about improving it. Improvement is something that I have really aspired for with this class, and sometimes I feel like I do not really get that, though this project really did feel like my art ended up improving through it. Overall I see this project through a positive lens, and I’m happy with the way it turned out.
